Can I use Sepia products when pregnant or nursing?
Are your products clean?
All of our products have been created with safety and efficacy as our top priorities. Though we meet many clean guidelines, such as Clean at Sephora and Ulta’s Conscious Beauty program, we chose not to label ourselves as "clean" because we care about the nuance lost when using an unregulated term. For more information, please see our Mindful Formulations page.
Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes! Our products are vegan and cruelty-free.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Our products have been tested to have a minimum two-year shelf life if unopened and stored at normal room temperature, during which they will retain their integrity and perform as expected. Once opened, please refer to the POA (period after opening) symbol on the package that identifies the lifetime of the product—it depicts an open cosmetic jar with a written number of months.
What does inclusive formulation and testing mean?
Inclusivity is core to our ethos at Sepia. Partnering with a leading cosmetic innovation lab and a BIPOC cosmetic chemist, we create formulas that are effective, efficient and gentle for all skin tones, including melanin-rich skin. We prioritize inclusivity in our third-party-run clinical studies by striving for equal representation across all six Fitzpatrick skin phototypes and consciously including people of different ethnic backgrounds and genders. For more information, please see our Diversity and Inclusion page.
How do I recycle my empty container?
We’ve worked hard to make sure our recycling instructions are clear, easy, and readily available. For information on how to responsibly recycle (or toss) our packaging, please see the product bottle, box or product information page on our website.
What does it mean to be plastic-neutral?
We strive to avoid plastic as much as possible in our packaging. Since we are not yet completely plastic-free, we’ve partnered with Waste Revolution to offset our plastic footprint. For every pound of plastic used in our packaging, one pound is recycled that otherwise wouldn’t be. For more information, please see our Sustainability page
